|| 29 april – 1 may || – Workshop and Long Impro Session

// Description //

During the workshop I will invite you in my perception and vision of Nancy’s teachings I got meeting her in the years. We will go through differents practices trying to touch her specific way of though about Contact Improv.

Every night we will jam noticing how all this information travel into our body and dance.
On Sunday we will dance 5 Hours no stop in a long Impro Session.

BIO
VERA DE PROPRIS

Vera De Propris: Dancer, performer and dance educator, Vera met Contact Improvisation and Instant Composition in 2003 and never stopped practicing and promoting it.
She studied at “Officina C.A.D.” of Rome, directed by Paola Rampone and then with Andrew Harwood, Kirstie Simson, Julyen Hamilton, Nancy Stark Smith, Lisa Nelson, Simone Forti, Ray Chung, Charlie Morrissey, Vera Mantero, Simone Sandroni and several others great teachers.

Since 2008 she teaches C.I. to people of different ages, in different contexts and international Festivals (Italy Contact Festival, Freiburg Contact Festival, 1001 Festival, Vesuvius Contact
Festival,…)
She organised several events, including 10 editions of the International Jam of Rome (with the collective “RomaContact”) and 3 editions of the Italy Contact Camp.

In 2018 she went to USA to participate to the “Long Dance”project, created and directed by Nancy Stark Smith for 20 dancers from all around the world.

This 6 week project at Earthdance and Dragon’s EGG Studio deeply transfromed her way of though about Contact Improvisation, enriching it from a spiritual, artistic and poetic point of wiew.
In the same year she co-organised the international conference “You come. We’ll show you what we do” at Museum Macro – Asilo of Rome.
Since 2007 she performs in formal and informal contexts dedicated to Instant Composition.

Vera is also a sociologist, graduated at “La Sapienza” University of Rome(2001) and a dance educator with experience in numerous primary state schools of Rome.
Actually she lives in Sicily and works at “Viagrande Studios” as a teacher of the professional training school for dancers.

Samuel Nicola Fuscà

Samuel Nicola Fuscà is an Italy/Colombia based explorer of movement and performing
arts. He likes dance/theatre as well as music to work with. He graduated from the University of Siena in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology. Since then, has becomes to study performing arts at the University of performing arts of Turin for two years. Here he had led to physical theatre Lecoq’s pedagogy and creation methodology.
He has been a dedicated practitioner of Contact Improvisation for the last 9 years and is grateful for the teachings who received in the most important festival around the world.

In the beginning of 2019 went to US to meet Nancy Stark Smith and her work. He had the opportunity to be guest in some Underscore Labs and other dance group moment. He has the chance to interview Nancy and spend some time in the CQ office with her.

Since 2022 run a dance project name 50days contact dance, a place of research, sharing knowledge and co living around CI practice and other crazy things.
